LIVERPOOL: LIJNDERS MAKES ELLIOTT-INIESTA COMPARISON

Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijndershas made comparison between young Harvey Elliott and Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta. Englishman Elliott is one of thebest young players in the Premier League.

Lijnderstalked about the aforementioned Elliott and Andres Iniesta in his book as relayed by the Daily Mirror. He said there's nothing such as like for like in football, but Harvey Elliott has some of the ingredients of Andres Iniesta. The Liverpool assistant manager said Elliott thinks like a creative midfielder on the pitch just like what was obtainable with Iniesta who's a Barcelona legend.

England junior international Elliott has played 20 times for Liverpool in all competitions since he signed from London club Fulham three years ago. Elliott could have played more games for Sevillaif not for the long-term injury suffered at the start of last season. The Liverpool attacking talent suffered a serious injury during the 3-0 away win over Leeds United in September 2021 and he has to taken off the pitch via a stretcher. Elliott was a regular in the Liverpool starting XI at the start of the season before the injury sustained during the Leeds United game.
Liverpool player Elliott spent the penultimate season on loan at Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship. The teenager made 42 appearances for the former Premier League winners during his time at the club, but he was unable to achieve Premier League promotion with the onetime Premier League champions. His time at Blackburn Rovers played a big part in his development as the Championship is renowned for being a tough, physical league.
Lijnders is an ally of Liverpool manager JurgenKlopp and he has a new book which is set for a release next month. In his book, Lijnders heaped praise on Elliott who would be hoping to play more games for Liverpool in the new season in comparison to last season.
