BARCA TAKE ON REAL

Barcelona will be taking on Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu this weekend in what promises to be the title decider in Spain. Even though Atletico Madrid are also involved in the title race with only a handful of matches remaining, it is seen as a contest between Madrid and Barcelona.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men have taken the upper hand over the Catalan outfit in the last few weeks. Barcelona have been inconsistent against teams like Valencia and this has made them slip four points behind Real Madrid. Midfielder Andres Iniesta has admitted that the club will not be able to retain the title if they do not win the upcoming El Clasico.

He says that winning the El Clasico is easier said than done even though Barcelona enjoy a great record in recent years. According to him, Madrid have improved massively after the arrival of Ancelotti and also a couple of new players. They have finally managed to settle on a formation that makes them use the attacking threat of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, while also being strong defensively. Barcelona will have confidence ahead of the match after having beaten their archrivals 2-1 earlier in the season, but that match was at the Camp Nou.

"We will have to play an almost perfect match because that's what our opponent will demand of us. We are in the right shape to do it. It's a very important match for what it means for the standings, for the opponent and for everything around these kinds of games. We have to be Barca, be courageous, if we are not we will suffer. We must have the same confidence we have always had before tackling these games,” said Iniesta, whose team are looking to win the fifth league title in the last six seasons.
