Iniesta unsure about new contract

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta said that he is unsure of signing a new contract with the club.


He said that he would need to consider a lot of things before committing himself to the club.

This will come as a surprise to Barcelona fans as the player has just recently stated that he wants to end his career with the club. His current contract is due to expire at the end of next season, and Iniesta said that he is still thinking about it.

He admitted that things have not been easy for him recently and that he has only managed to play 36 games this season. He said that he is used to playing more than 60 games per season and he feels that he need to take this into account when signing a new contract.

Indeed the Spanish international has been troubled with all kind of injuries this season, and this has impacted his form negatively. He has failed to perform at the level we are used to, and he feels that may be this is time for a change.

When asked whether he wants to leave the club, he said that he hasn’t said so. He stated that he is still open to a new contract, but he will have to take a lot of things into account. He stated that he was not looking for more money, but it will rather depend on sporting aspects.

He said that at the moment he wants to focus on fulfilling his current contract and that he will analyze the situation again at the end of next season. He believes that he can still play at the highest level and he wants to win the Champions League as well as La Liga with Barcelona again.
